Web development company for Canberra businesses
Canberra is a small market with unusually high expectations. It has the highest median income of any Australian capital, a workforce accustomed to government-standard accessibility and information design, and a business base where a large share of clients are either serving government or serving people who work in it. That raises the bar on two things most web projects treat as afterthoughts: accessibility compliance and clear information architecture. We build to those standards as a default rather than as an upsell.
Local market
Building for the Canberra market
Accessibility is the defining Canberra requirement. WCAG conformance is a procurement condition for government-facing work and a reasonable expectation from a market accustomed to government digital standards. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as the default: semantic structure, keyboard operability, contrast compliance, focus management, and screen reader testing rather than an automated scan and a badge. This is not an add-on line item.
The second characteristic is information density. Canberra's professional services, association, membership and advocacy organisations tend to publish substantial content, and the build problem is navigability rather than visual impact. Getting the taxonomy right at the start is worth more than any amount of visual polish added later.
The third is that Canberra is small. Word travels, the same organisations sit on each other's boards, and a supplier's reputation in this market is a single shared object. That suits how we prefer to work.
Scope boundary, stated plainly: we do not deliver work requiring Australian security clearances, IRAP-assessed environments, or hosting under the Hosting Certification Framework. If your project has those requirements, we are not an appropriate supplier and we will tell you at brief stage rather than after you have committed.
Working hours
Working with Canberra hours
Canberra runs AEDT (UTC+11) during daylight saving from October to April and AEST (UTC+10) otherwise, matching Sydney and Melbourne. Against Pakistan Standard Time that is a five to six hour gap depending on the season. Our overlap window is 9am to 2pm Canberra time, the same window Sydney and Melbourne clients work to.
Industry context
Industries we serve in Canberra
Associations, membership and advocacy
Canberra's concentration of peak bodies, professional associations and advocacy organisations produces content-heavy sites with member portals, event and conference structures, and publication libraries. The build challenge is information architecture and member access management rather than visual ambition.
Professional and consulting services
Firms serving government need credibility structure, capability content and careful handling of what appears publicly about their client work. Clean information architecture and accessible design are not differentiators here, they are baseline expectations.
Health and allied health
Canberra's practice market carries the same booking, practitioner profile and health information requirements as elsewhere, with a higher-than-average expectation on accessibility. WCAG compliance built in from the start rather than retrofitted later.

Need ongoing capacity rather than a project?
The services above deliver fixed-scope project work. If you need a dedicated developer working alongside your Canberra team on an ongoing monthly basis, the hire-developers model is the right fit.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you deliver work that requires Australian security clearances?
- No. Codalyst Tech is a Pakistan-based company and our personnel do not hold Australian security clearances. We also do not operate IRAP-assessed environments or hosting certified under the Hosting Certification Framework. If your project carries any of those requirements, we are not an appropriate supplier and we would rather say so at brief stage than waste your procurement time.
- Do you build to WCAG accessibility standards?
- Yes, WCAG 2.2 AA as a default rather than as a paid extra. That means semantic HTML structure, full keyboard operability, contrast conformance, managed focus states, accessible form labelling and error handling, and manual screen reader testing rather than only an automated scan. If you require a formal third-party accessibility audit for procurement, we will build to the standard and you engage an independent assessor, which is the correct separation.
- We are a Canberra association with a member portal. Can you handle that?
- Yes. Member portals, tiered access levels, event and conference registration, publication libraries and member directories are common requirements in this market. The decisions worth making carefully at the start are the membership data model and how it integrates with whatever CRM or association management system you already run, since both are expensive to change later.
- Our client is a government department. Can you work as a subcontractor?
- It depends entirely on the requirements flowed down through the head contract, and you need to check them before engaging us. Where the work carries clearance, IRAP, data residency or citizenship conditions, we cannot be a supplier regardless of contract structure. Where it does not, subcontracted delivery is straightforward and we work as a white-label partner regularly. Check first.
- Do you have a Canberra office?
- No. Codalyst Tech is a registered Pakistani company with no Australian premises. In a market as procurement-conscious as Canberra we would rather state that at the top than have it discovered at due diligence.
